India has formalized its participation in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) by signing agreements focused on a clean and fair economy. The agreements, announced on Sunday, aim to foster cooperation in areas like clean energy, climate-friendly technologies, anti-corruption, and tax transparency.
According to the commerce ministry, these agreements will bolster investment, facilitate project financing, and stimulate innovation in green technology. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a three-day visit to the US, presided over the signing ceremony in Delaware on September 21.
The IPEF bloc, launched in May 2022 and comprising 14 members, aims to enhance trade, supply chains, and economic sustainability in the Indo-Pacific region. Previously, 13 IPEF members had signed the agreements in June. India's participation marks a significant step towards cleaner energy and a more transparent business environment.
