An empty gas cylinder was found on the tracks by a goods train loco pilot, prompting emergency brakes near Prempur railway station in Kanpur on Sunday. This marks the second such incident in Uttar Pradesh this month.

According to police, the episode unfolded at 8:10 am when the train was en route from Kanpur to Allahabad.

'The cylinder had a five-kilogram capacity and was empty. It has been removed from the track and the matter is being investigated,' stated the local police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh revealed that the loco pilot immediately alerted railway officials, who then informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Kanpur police. An investigation has been launched.

Earlier on September 8, a similar attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express, traveling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani, by placing an LPG cylinder on the tracks. The train struck the cylinder before coming to a halt, ejecting it off the tracks.
