The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has taken significant measures to ensure the quality of its ghee supplies to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). This move comes in response to a controversy surrounding substandard ghee used in the making of Tirupati laddus.

According to KMF Managing Director M K Jagadish, the supply of Nandini Ghee was reinstated after TTD awarded the contract to KMF a month ago. To prevent any adulteration, geo-positioning systems have been installed on all vehicles transporting the ghee.

The decision follows lab reports revealing the presence of 'lard' and other impurities in the ghee. TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao confirmed these findings and announced steps to blacklist the implicated contractor. KMF has committed to ensuring the supply of 350 tonnes of pure ghee.
