SMEs Fuel 35 Million Job Applications: Boost in Key Sectors

Small and medium enterprises have generated over 35 million job applications in the first eight months of this year, driven by rising demand in key sectors such as BFSI, BPO, and hospitality, says a report from jobs and professional networking platform apna.co.
This surge reflects a growing demand for roles like Sales & Marketing Managers, Accounting Technicians, Telecallers, Back Office Executives, and Business Development Associates. SMEs and MSMEs employ over 110 million people, playing a crucial role in the nation's journey toward a USD 5 trillion economy, according to Nirmit Parikh, Founder & CEO of apna.co.
Notably, more than 55% of job applications came from tier-2 and tier-3 cities such as Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kochi, and Bhubaneswar. The 14 million applications from women mark a significant 30% year-on-year increase, reflecting the growing female workforce participation in finance, accounts, marketing, and graphic design.
