Delta Air Lines on Friday requested permission from the U.S. Transportation Department to postpone the resumption of four daily flights to China, citing persistent market challenges.
The U.S.-based airline, which currently operates daily flights to Shanghai from Seattle and Detroit, is seeking approval to continue withholding two other daily Shanghai flights and two daily Beijing flights.
This request follows a similar appeal made last week by United Airlines to further reduce its China services, asking to cease operations on 6 of its 9 daily flights to the region.
