The 20th Maritime State Development Council (MSDC) concluded in Goa, resolving over 80 critical issues among the Centre, states, and Union Territories. The two-day event focused on port infrastructure modernisation, connectivity, statutory compliances, and maritime tourism.
Key developments addressed included places of refuge for ships in distress, radioactive detection equipment at ports, and better working conditions for seafarers. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the importance of the meeting in fostering cohesive maritime policies.
New initiatives launched included the Indian International Maritime Dispute Resolution Centre and the Indian Maritime Centre. The event also featured the keel laying ceremony for India's largest dredger at Cochin Shipyard Limited.
