India has announced the extension of countervailing or anti-subsidy duties on a Chinese chemical used in pesticides for another five years, aiming to shield domestic manufacturers from unfair competition.

The decision is based on the recommendation from the commerce ministry's investigation arm, DGTR, advocating for the continued imposition of duties on 'Atrazine Technical' imports from China.

A finance ministry notification confirmed that the duty, which can reach up to 11.94%, will be maintained for five years unless earlier modifications are made.
