An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Phuket was diverted to Penang in Malaysia on Friday due to bad weather conditions, the airline reported. Passengers were promptly informed about the unexpected detour and provided with refreshments to ensure their comfort.

IndiGo stated that flight 6E 1701, which was operating from Mumbai to Phuket, had to divert to the nearest airport in Penang, Malaysia, as a preventive measure against adverse weather.

The airline is currently in the process of obtaining required permissions to resume the journey to Phuket. The diversion involved an A320 family aircraft and was deemed necessary to ensure passenger safety, despite Penang not being a direct IndiGo connection.
