Low-cost airline SpiceJet took its battle to the Supreme Court on Thursday, challenging a Delhi High Court decision to ground three of its aircraft engines due to non-payment to lessors.

Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud advised the airline's counsel to request an urgent hearing via email regarding the high court's September 11th verdict.

Earlier, a division bench of the Delhi High Court found that SpiceJet had breached an interim payment arrangement, upholding an order from a single judge to ground the engines. The single judge bench had directed the grounding and handover to lessors Team France 01 SAS and Sunbird France 02 SAS by August 16th.
