CEAT Ltd Expands Chennai Plant with New Truck and Bus Radials Line
CEAT Ltd has inaugurated a new production line for truck and bus radial tyres at its Chennai plant, set to achieve a capacity of 1,500 tyres daily within a year. This expansion supports CEAT's international growth strategy and increases its manufacturing investment in Tamil Nadu to Rs 2,970 crore.

On Wednesday, tyre manufacturer CEAT Ltd announced the commissioning of a new production line for truck and bus radial tyres at its Chennai plant. This new line aims to reach a production capacity of 1,500 tyres daily within the next 12 months, marking a significant step in CEAT's expansion into international markets.
CEAT Ltd currently manufactures passenger car and motorcycle radial tyres, and this expansion enables the company to meet the rising demands for high-performance vehicles both domestically and globally, according to a company statement. CEAT Ltd's Managing Director and CEO Arnab Banerjee highlighted that this development aligns with the company's global strategy to offer a comprehensive tyre range, particularly targeting Europe and the US markets.
The investment of Rs 670 crore into the Chennai facility, near Sriperumbudur, brings CEAT Ltd's total investment in Tamil Nadu to Rs 2,970 crore. The company also plans to increase its renewable energy usage from 40% to 50% within the next 18 months. This export-focused plant emphasizes shipments to the US and European markets, catering to applications such as trucks, long-haul trucks, mining, and buses.
