The residents of Ganjam district have continued their protest for the third straight day, demanding the Ministry of Railways to address the lack of railway development in South Odisha.

Organized under the Milita Kriyaanusthan Committee, several individuals staged a dharna near the railway station, pledging to persist with their agitation until their demands for the railway sector's development are met.

The protest began on Monday and is expected to last for at least a week. The demonstrators include advocates, social activists, retired bureaucrats, teachers, and businessmen. Notably, Congress MLA Mohana Dasarathi Gamang joined the dharna, showing solidarity with the cause.

The committee's demands include constructing new railway lines from Gopalpur to Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Talacher, adding two more platforms at Berhampur station, and establishing a new division and a proposed wagon factory at Sitalapalli to employ local youths. The proposed projects have long been ignored, causing frustration among residents.
