The new routes are Tata-Berhampur, Rourkela-Howrah, and Durg-Visakhapatnam, adding to the three existing Vande Bharat trains in the state. These additions are among ten new Vande Bharat trains scheduled for launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been invited by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to attend the flag-off ceremony at Berhampur. The East Coast Railway General Manager Parameswar Funkwal extended the invitation personally to Majhi at the state Assembly.
The deployment of these new trains will increase the number of Vande Bharat Express services through Odisha from three to six. In a bid to bolster the state's railway infrastructure, the central government has allocated Rs 10,586 crore for the 2024-25 financial year.
