In Rajasthan's Ajmer district, an attempt to derail a goods train was made by placing cement blocks on the tracks of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, railway officials disclosed on Tuesday.

The goods train collided with the blocks between Saradhna and Bangad stations on Sunday night, but luckily no significant damage occurred, they added.

'Some miscreants placed two cement blocks on tracks in the dedicated freight corridor on Sunday. A goods train hit them,' a North Western Railway official confirmed, noting the incident occurred on the Phulera-Ahmedabad stretch of the corridor.

On Monday, another derailment attempt was made on the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express in Kanpur by placing an LPG cylinder, a petrol bottle, and matchboxes on the tracks. Previously, the Ahmedabad-Jodhpur Vande Bharat express faced a sabotage attempt in Rajasthan's Pali district.

Regarding the Ajmer incident, a Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) official reported that a case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.

'The incident happened on Sunday night. The train's guard informed the control room, and officials alongside RPF personnel arrived at the scene, finding the blocks. Train movements were not disturbed. A case was filed by the local police, and the investigation is in progress,' conveyed Deputy GM (Security) DFCC Chitresh Joshi.

Joshi noted this was the first such incident on the Western Corridor.
