The forthcoming National Cooperative Policy, designed to enhance cooperative-based economic development and grassroots movements, is nearing completion and will be announced within 2-3 months, according to a high-ranking cooperation ministry official.

Cooperation Secretary Ashish Kumar Bhutani revealed on Monday that the policy is in its final stages and will soon be made public. This statement was made at an event, highlighting the significant progress made.

A 47-member committee, under the leadership of former Union minister Suresh Prabhu, drafted the policy after extensive consultations with various stakeholders. Final discussions are underway to finalize the details.

Additionally, Bhutani noted that approximately 65,000 functional Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) are set to be computerized by February next year. The new policy embodies the vision 'Sahakar se Samriddhi,' focusing on cooperative-based economic development and strengthening grassroots movements.
