A group of South African manufacturers from the clothing, textile, footwear, leather, and general goods sectors will be showcasing their products at the AllFashion Sourcing Exhibition, supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic). The exhibition is set to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (ICC) from 10 to 12 September 2024.

The AllFashion Sourcing Exhibition is a business-focused event that blends African creativity, design, and manufacturing with international sourcing opportunities. The exhibition will attract an international audience, including manufacturers, designers, retailers, buyers, educational institutions, associations, financiers, and service providers from the textile, apparel, footwear, and fashion industries.

The primary goal of the event is to promote African-made clothing, textiles, footwear, leather, and general goods while fostering regional and international interactions. It also aims to stimulate investment in the region and support sustainable job creation within the sector.

Thandi Phele, Acting Deputy Director-General of Sectors at the dtic, emphasized that the department’s support aligns with its strategy to enhance the manufacturing sector's ability to generate quality jobs, promote inclusion, and boost value addition and competitiveness in both domestic and export markets.

“This is a significant opportunity for manufacturers to present their products to a broader fashion community, both locally and internationally. We are confident that this collaboration will result in valuable inquiries and trade leads,” Phele stated.

The sector, which has faced challenges due to structural issues and the impacts of COVID-19, is now on a path to stabilization. However, additional interventions are necessary.

The dtic aims to use the AllFashion Sourcing Exhibition as a platform to promote local products, increase exports, and drive sustainable job creation in the sector.

“This event provides the dtic with an excellent chance to engage with a targeted audience of textile, clothing, footwear, leather, and fashion-oriented exhibitors and visitors,” Phele added.
