Boeing and its principal union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, announced a tentative labor agreement Sunday, potentially averting a strike that threatened to halt aircraft production.
The contract, covering 33,000 workers, includes a 25% pay raise over four years, lump-sum payments of $3,000, and reduced health care costs. A major union demand—to construct Boeing's next airliner in Washington state—was also met.
The contract must be ratified by union members before Thursday midnight to avoid a strike. Voting will take place across several locations in Washington and California.
