In a notable achievement, Indian Railways successfully loaded 126.97 MT of freight in August 2024, bringing the cumulative total to 653.22 MT for the financial year 2024-25 by the end of August, according to a Railway Board press statement.

The report emphasized Indian Railways' role as the nation's freight backbone, consistently moving a diverse array of goods across the country with an unwavering focus on sustainability and efficiency.

With an ambitious target of 3,000 million tonnes (MT) of freight loading by 2030, Indian Railways is expanding its network, upgrading its fleet, and enhancing operational efficiency as outlined in the National Rail Plan, stated the Railways Ministry.
