Delhi Government Enforces Biometric Facial Recognition to Prevent Driver Fatigue

The Delhi government is introducing biometric facial recognition systems across bus depots to prevent drivers from working multiple shifts and ensure safety. This initiative is a response to accidents involving exhausted drivers. The measure also aims to implement Aadhaar-based duty allocation to monitor and regulate driver assignments.

In an official statement, authorities stated that the new system would monitor driver attendance and ensure strict adherence to single-shift guidelines. This follows concerning incidents where drivers fell asleep at the wheel, leading to accidents.

The Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot, emphasized that Aadhaar-based duty allocation would also be introduced, holding depot managers accountable for any violations. These measures are expected to greatly enhance the safety of both drivers and passengers.
