Schiphol Airport, one of Europe's major aviation hubs, is poised to increase its annual flight capacity to between 475,000 and 480,000 flights, as announced by the Dutch government on Wednesday. This marks an increase from the prior target of 460,000 to 470,000 flights.
The government revealed that new, detailed sector information suggested that the new flight cap would adequately balance operational needs and noise pollution reduction. A final decision will be made after consulting with the European Commission, and the revised cap is slated to take effect in November 2025.
Concurrently, Schiphol Airport has unveiled plans for a historic investment of 6 billion euros by 2029, spotlighting its commitment to future growth and development.
