Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has requested SpiceJet to expedite the clearance of overdue payments, sources revealed on Tuesday, although the airline insists there are no immediate payment concerns.
No official comments were provided by DIAL, which manages the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Facing financial and legal issues, SpiceJet was placed under heightened surveillance by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) last week.
Despite rumors indicating a two-day deadline for payment, a SpiceJet spokesperson assured that communications with DIAL are routine, and payment obligations are being met as per schedule. Recently, Mumbai airport operator MIAL withdrew an advisory citing flight disruptions, showing successful collaboration with SpiceJet. Currently, the airline operates with around 22 planes amidst these challenges.
