Cathay Pacific Grounds A350 Fleet After Engine Part Failure
Cathay Pacific Airways has grounded part of its Airbus A350 fleet following an in-flight engine failure. Inspections revealed that 15 aircraft had components requiring replacement. The airline expects all affected jets to be operational by Saturday, although 34 flights have been canceled due to the disruption.
In response to an in-flight engine failure, Cathay Pacific Airways has conducted a comprehensive inspection of its Airbus A350 fleet. The airline revealed on Tuesday that components on 15 aircraft required replacement.
Of the inspected 48 Rolls-Royce-powered planes, three have already undergone successful repairs. All affected jets are expected to resume operations by Saturday. The disruptions have led to the cancellation of at least 34 round-trip flights.
Other major airlines have not received directives to inspect similar engines, although some, like Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways, are monitoring the situation closely. Rolls-Royce and Airbus are actively involved in the investigation and remedial efforts.
