Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the approval of a ₹3,300 crore semiconductor unit in Sanand. This decision marks a significant milestone for Gujarat's burgeoning semiconductor industry.

According to an official release, four out of the five semiconductor manufacturing facilities announced under India Semiconductor Mission will be located in Gujarat. The latest proposal cleared by the Centre will allow Kaynes Semicon to establish a plant capable of producing 60 lakh chips per day.

'Under the leadership of PM Modi, the Union cabinet has approved the establishment of another semiconductor unit in Sanand,' read the release. This new plant adds to the three previously announced facilities by Micron Technology, Tata Electronics, and CG Power, thus bolstering the state's position as a semiconductor hub.
