MSRTC Adds 5,000 Extra Buses for Ganpati Festivities

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) announced on Monday its plans to deploy nearly 5,000 extra buses for the Ganpati festival from the districts of Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar to the Konkan region starting September 3. This operation is in addition to their existing services.

MSRTC revealed that of the 4,953 extra buses, 4,200 buses have already been booked by groups. In Thane, 2,481 buses will be operated, including 2,064 booked by groups. Mumbai will see 1,841 buses, with 1,578 booked by groups and 417 as extras. Palghar will have 631 buses, with 558 group bookings and 73 extras.

As an added benefit, MSRTC is offering 100 per cent concession on ticket fares for passengers aged above 75 years and a 50 per cent concession for women on these special buses. Maintenance vehicles will patrol the Mumbai-Goa highway, and temporary toilet facilities will be provided for passenger convenience during the four-day Ganpati period starting September 7. MSRTC operates a fleet of around 15,000 buses, catering to a daily ridership of over 60 lakh passengers.
