The fatalities in road accidents in Delhi have risen by four percent compared to the previous year, according to statistics from the Delhi Police up to August 15. A total of 831 fatal accidents occurred, marking an increase from 799 during the same period in 2023.

The data reveals that 2023 saw 1,432 fatal accidents in total, slightly more than the 1,428 cases recorded in 2022. Non-fatal accidents, however, have decreased by one percent this year, with 2,596 cases compared to 2,624 in 2023.

National Highway 8, National Highway 24, Ring Road, and Rohtak Roads have been identified as the deadliest areas. Most accidents are attributed to rash driving, drunk driving, and hit-and-run incidents. Recent measures by traffic police, including installing speed cameras, aim to curb these rising numbers.
