A tragic accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old dumper driver in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Wednesday. The vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Hanjoos on the under-construction Siran-Sirachi link road in Khari tehsil around 8 am, according to police sources.

The driver, Mohammad Iqbal Khan, a resident of Chanpa village in Batote, was discovered critically injured by rescuers. He was initially taken to the sub-district hospital in Banihal.

Despite efforts to save him, Khan succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to the Government Medical College hospital in Anantnag for specialized treatment, officials reported.
