Union Cabinet Approves 12 New Industrial Cities to Boost Manufacturing
The Union Cabinet approved the development of 12 new industrial cities in 10 states with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore, aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing and economic growth. These cities will be located along major corridors and are expected to create significant employment opportunities and boost global competitiveness.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the development of 12 new industrial cities across 10 states, aiming to bolster domestic manufacturing with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore.
Strategically planned along six major corridors, these projects represent a significant step forward in India's efforts to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and economic growth. The cities are set to be located in Khurpia (Uttrakhand), Rajpura-Patiala (Punjab), Dighi (Maharashtra), Palakkad (Kerala), Agra and Prayagraj (UP), Gaya (Bihar), Zaheerabad (Telangana), Orvakal and Kopparthy (AP), and Jodhpur-Pali (Rajasthan).
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that these projects, approved under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), will transform India's industrial landscape, creating robust networks of industrial nodes and cities. Developed as greenfield smart cities of global standards, they will be equipped with advanced infrastructure to support sustainable and efficient industrial operations. NICDP is expected to generate up to 1 million direct jobs and 3 million indirect jobs, along with a potential investment of Rs 1.52 lakh crore.
