Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has clinched a major contract worth over Rs 11000 crore, excluding GST, with Adani Power Limited (APL) and its subsidiary Mahan Energen Limited (MEL) to develop three Supercritical Thermal Power projects. According to BHEL, this agreement enhances India's power infrastructure and solidifies BHEL's pivotal role in the sector.

The contract, signed on Sunday, August 25, entails the supply of essential equipment and the supervision of the erection and commissioning processes for the three power projects, each featuring a capacity of 2x800 MW and employing advanced Supercritical Technology. The projects are to be developed at Kawai Phase-II and Kawai Phase-III in Rajasthan, and Mahan Phase-III in Madhya Pradesh.

Under this agreement, BHEL is responsible for providing a full suite of equipment, including Boilers, Turbines, Generators, and associated auxiliaries. The contract also covers control and instrumentation systems. BHEL will oversee the installation and commissioning of these systems to ensure they meet all operational and performance standards.

The completion timelines vary: the Kawai Phase-II project is expected to wrap up in 49 months, Kawai Phase-III in 52 months, and Mahan Phase-III in 55 months. These durations reflect the projects' complexity and the commitment to timely delivery.

The contracts, awarded by Adani Power Limited and Mahan Energen Limited, are strictly at arm's length with no promoter or group company stakes. The transactions do not qualify as related party transactions. (ANI)
