The Dhaka Metro resumed services on Sunday, over a month after being shut down amid unprecedented anti-government protests that saw two of its stations suffer severe vandalism.
However, the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations will remain closed, according to an official notification. Commuters, mainly students and office-goers, heaved a sigh of relief as they no longer need to navigate through Dhaka's notorious traffic jams daily.
Official notifications confirm that services resumed around 7 am. The metro shutdown combined with congested streets due to protests had nearly paralyzed the public transport system in the capital.
