New Railway Line Transforms Mizoram's Connectivity

An important milestone has been achieved in Mizoram's connectivity with the authorization of train operations between Bhairabi and Hortoki. The Bhairabi-Sairang New Line Railway Project, significantly progressed at over 90%, will now place Aizawl, the state's capital, on India's railway map, as per an official statement.
On Thursday, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Sumeet Singhal authorized the commencement of freight and passenger train services on the 16.725 km broad gauge line, following a comprehensive statutory inspection last month, as reported by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
Part of the larger 51.38 km-long Bhairabi-Sairang project, this section includes 20 major and 27 minor bridges, and 13 tunnels. The new railway line will operate at a maximum speed of 75 km per hour and is expected to stimulate local industries and tourism, benefiting the people of Mizoram upon its completion.
