Provisional data from the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) indicates that 21.67 lakh new workers enrolled under the ESI Scheme in June 2024. This reflects an increase from the 20.27 lakh employees who registered during the same period last year.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment revealed on Thursday that roughly 10.58 lakh of the new employees belong to the age group of up to 25 years, constituting around 49% of total registrations.

The ministry also reported that 4.32 lakh female employees joined the ESI Scheme in June 2024. Additionally, 13,483 new establishments were included under the ESI Scheme's social security coverage, extending welfare benefits to more employees.

Year-on-year figures illustrate a 7% increase in net registrations compared to June 2023. Data also shows that 55 transgender employees were registered in June 2024.

ESIC, a statutory organization founded by the Government of India in 1948, operates under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi, supported by an extensive network of regional, sub-regional, and local offices nationwide.
