Chief Minister MK Stalin is poised to inaugurate the state-of-the-art Industrial Housing Facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park Vallam Vadagal in Kanchipuram district on Saturday. The project is designed to furnish modern, secure housing for female employees of Foxconn and other industries, standing as the first of its kind in India and symbolizing a significant milestone in Tamil Nadu's industrial development.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Raja announced the inauguration, highlighting that the facility will substantially improve the quality of life for women working in the burgeoning manufacturing sector in the region, especially in the electronics manufacturing ecosystem centred around Foxconn. Raja stated, "The inauguration of the Industrial Housing Facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park Vallam Vadagal in Kanchipuram district for women workers of Foxconn Industries will be conducted with TN CM MK Stalin presiding over the ceremony."

Located in Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram district, the housing facility spans 20 acres within the vast SIPCOT Industrial Park. Developed at an investment of Rs 706.50 crore, the initiative aims to meet the housing demands of the industrial workforce, particularly female workers. The complex can accommodate 18,720 workers across 13 blocks, each designed with a Stilt plus 10-floor structure. Each dormitory-style room includes six beds, totaling 240 rooms in each block.

The facility boasts a variety of modern amenities to ensure comfort and security for the residents. Indoor games, outdoor play areas, solar water heaters in all 13 blocks, and a 1 MW rooftop solar power plant for eco-friendly energy are included. Additional features are sanitary napkin incinerators, mosquito nets in every room, an RO plant in each block for clean drinking water, and 1,170 CCTV cameras for 24/7 monitoring. A dedicated kitchen and dining facility with a capacity for 4,000 workers, spanning two floors (G+1), also enhance the site's amenities.

Furthermore, the project incorporates rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment, solid waste management, and landscaping to foster a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. (ANI)
