An Akasa Air flight from Varanasi to Mumbai, carrying 172 passengers, made an emergency landing at Raja Bhoj Airport on Thursday after a passenger fell severely ill, according to an official.

The pilot reached out to Air Traffic Control and executed the emergency landing at 11.40 am, stated airport director Ramji Awasthi. The critically ill passenger was immediately transported to the hospital.

Post-completion of necessary formalities, the flight is scheduled to resume its journey at 5 pm, Awasthi added.
