US highway safety regulators have concluded an investigation into complaints involving suspension part failures on nearly 75,000 Tesla vehicles, without opting for a recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) disclosed on Wednesday that there were 426 reports of failures on the Model S (2015-2017) and Model X (2016-2017). There was one crash with no injuries reported.

Despite the reports, the NHTSA found that the vehicles could still be controlled even if the front fore links failed. This led to the closure of the probe, which began in November 2020. Tesla had initiated a customer satisfaction campaign in 2017 to replace fore links on some vehicles, but the NHTSA noted it did not cover 75% of the identified failures. The agency has recommended that Tesla expand the replacement program.

A message was left on Wednesday seeking comment from Tesla.
