China Exposes Rampant Corruption in Funeral Services
China has uncovered extensive corruption within its funeral services industry, involving illegal fees, mismanagement of cemeteries, and staff misconduct. Numerous officials and long-time employees have been implicated following investigations across several provinces. The scandal also involves illegal activities such as corpse harvesting and resale.

China has unveiled widespread corruption in its funeral services sector, state media reported Wednesday, identifying illegal fees and cemetery mismanagement committed by veteran managers and funeral home officials.
Just last week, a Chinese firm was implicated in an illegal corpse harvesting and resale scandal, following a viral report by state-backed outlet The Paper. Investigations across Anhui, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Sichuan, and Yunnan provinces have led to numerous allegations against funeral parlour employees, according to China Daily.
Since the start of the year, dozens of cases have surfaced, with many involving experienced industry professionals. Anti-graft campaigns in Anhui, Liaoning, and Jilin have revealed illegal fee charges and corrupt cemetery operations, noted Global Times.
