Five persons were killed and three others critically injured in a deadly accident involving a speeding truck in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Monday morning, according to police reports.

The incident occurred near Mahamaya Temple on National Highway 27 in Kachugaon, where the truck struck devotees, resulting in five fatalities and one injury on the spot.

The truck driver fled the scene but later collided with a car at Bishmuri, critically injuring two more people. Senior police officers are investigating the mishap.
