Puducherry's Industries Minister A Namassivayam announced on Friday that a new industrial policy will soon be introduced to foster industrial development and create job opportunities for youth in the union territory.

Responding to a query from legislator V P Ramalingam, Namassivayam noted that potential industrial investors are seeking concessions related to GST and Income Tax, which the government is considering. He emphasized the aim of encouraging industrial growth to generate jobs for educated youth, with all factors being reviewed for comprehensive development.

Namassivayam also revealed plans for an Information Technology park. He reported that 189 industries have been established since 2021, providing employment to 9,691 workers.

In related news, Chief Minister N Rangasamy informed BJP legislator P M L Kalyanasundaram that the Excise department generates significant government revenue, second only to Commercial Taxes. The Chief Minister assured that liquor licensing adheres strictly to Excise rules and addressed concerns about a bar's proximity to sensitive areas in Alankuppam village.

Rangasamy also committed to outsourcing ambulance services to ensure timely response for patients in critical conditions.
