Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday outlined the significant progress made on the petroleum refinery project underway in Barmer, Rajasthan. In a social media update, the minister reported the installation of a Propylene Double Wall Tank's massive dome roof at the site.
The Propylene Double Wall Tank, designed to store hazardous chemicals up to 200°F, features two walls for added safety. The inner tank contains the chemicals, while the space between the inner and outer walls acts as a protective barrier. The roof, including its suspended deck and balancing weights, weighs an impressive 435 metric tons.
'This development is a testament to India's advancing energy sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dynamic leadership,' Puri noted. The Greenfield Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Barmer, a joint venture by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Government of Rajasthan, will process 9 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) of crude, producing over 2.4 million tons of petrochemicals, thus reducing import bills significantly.
