Metalogic PMS, India's premier Metals & Mining intelligence firm, successfully hosted a groundbreaking conference on the crucial role of steel in the defence sector. Held at the Indian Habitat Centre in New Delhi on July 31, 2024, the event saw participation from top industry leaders and policymakers.
The conference was graced by notable dignitaries such as Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya, Governor of Haryana, and senior officials from major steel companies like Midhani Limited, Jindal Stainless Ltd., SAIL, and Bharat Dynamics Limited. Key discussions focused on the significant contributions of the steel and metals industry to India's defence needs, seeking to boost innovation and collaboration.
India's defence sector has achieved impressive milestones in domestic production and exports but still faces challenges such as the inadequate availability of input materials for specialized defence products. The Defence Ministry aims to source 70% of arms and ammunition from indigenous materials by 2027, encouraging both small and large-scale players through a level playing field and import substitution models.
