At least 10 flights scheduled to land at Delhi airport were diverted on Wednesday evening due to heavy rains that lashed the national capital.
An official confirmed that the diversions, which started after 1930 hours, affected eight flights redirected to Jaipur and two to Lucknow, owing to adverse weather conditions.
The heavy downpour severely impacted the city, resulting in waterlogging and traffic congestion in multiple areas.
On social media platform X, airlines notified passengers about potential flight disruptions caused by the stormy weather.
Vistara stated that flight UK998 from Pune to Delhi had to be diverted to Lucknow due to the adverse weather conditions at Delhi airport.
Both inbound and outbound flights to and from Delhi are likely to face disruptions this evening due to the severe weather. Air India advised guests to allocate additional travel time to the airport to accommodate slow-moving traffic and waterlogged roads.
SpiceJet also acknowledged that the heavy rains in Delhi could affect all departures and arrivals, along with their subsequent flights.
IndiGo humorously mentioned the rainfall as a divine blessing in its social media post, asking passengers to verify their flight statuses and stay informed.
