Thomas Cook India Partners with NPCI to Launch RuPay Prepaid Forex Card in UAE
Thomas Cook India has partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to introduce the RuPay prepaid forex card for travelers to the UAE. This marks the first collaboration of its kind, with plans for a global rollout. The initiative aims to provide convenience and innovation in forex services.
Thomas Cook India has launched its first RuPay prepaid forex card designed for Indian travelers visiting the UAE, in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The initiative aims to enhance convenience in foreign exchange services.
The partnership with NPCI will see the UAE as the pilot market, with a global rollout planned in phases. Travelers can use the RuPay AED card for transactions and ATM withdrawals throughout the UAE.
According to Thomas Cook India, this is the first and only company to team up with NPCI for such a venture. With the increasing outbound travel from India to the UAE, Thomas Cook's foreign exchange business has seen significant growth in card recharges and new issuances, up by 1.5 times in FY24.
