The Agra Rail Division has taken stringent action against the crew of the Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express for violating a critical speed restriction in the Mathura section, endangering passenger safety.

According to Railways, restrictions like these are imposed for safe train operations and are often related to track conditions, repair work, or old infrastructure. The latest suspension occurred on July 21, as confirmed by Prashasti Srivastava, PRO of Agra Division. 'Both the loco pilot and the assistant loco pilot failed to adhere to the 20 kmph speed limit, posing serious risks,' a Mathura-based railway official stated.

This incident is the third reported violation in the past two months, signaling potential stress among Agra Division's loco pilots. In a similar context, loco pilots and assistants of the Gatiman Express and Malwa Express were suspended in May for a similar offense. The Railway Board has already initiated an investigation, engaging over 180 loco pilots to understand the underlying issues.
