In a landmark ceremony, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Dada Pawar inaugurated the Surjagad Ispat Pvt. Ltd. steel project in Gadchiroli.

The Rs. 10,000 crore investment is anticipated to generate employment for over 7,000 people and significantly boost local economic development. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed optimism about Gadchiroli becoming the state's most progressive district, predicting it will account for 30% of Maharashtra's steel production.

Fadnavis also highlighted the additional benefits to the tribal community, including the establishment of a medical college and the construction of an airport. Deputy Chief Minister Pawar emphasized the project's potential to meet the country's steel needs.

According to Vedansh Joshi, MD of Surjagad Ispat Pvt. Ltd., this venture aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The project, located in the Naxal-affected region of Wadlapeth village, covers 340 acres and features various plants and facilities. The first phase will commence in 2026, with completion targeted for 2030.

Prominent dignitaries and government officials attended the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, showcasing the project's significance for regional industrialization.
