The Department of Telecommunication has announced the creation of the National Communications Academy (NCA) by merging three existing training institutes, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communication. The institutions involved in this merger are the National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT), the National Institute of Communication Finance (NICF), and the Wireless Monitoring Training & Development Centre (WMTDC).

The move has received approval from the ministry following the recommendations of the Committee for Organisational Reforms. The Telecom Secretary will head the NCA as its ex-officio Chairperson, with the Additional Secretary (T) serving as Vice-Chairperson.

As a unified entity, the NCA will operate across three campuses located in Ghaziabad and Ghitorni. The new academy aims to improve integration and efficiency by optimizing training resources and adopting a holistic approach to skill development in the communications sector.

Shared facilities, faculty, and technology are expected to enhance the learning experience. The NCA is anticipated to spur collaborative and interdisciplinary research, fostering a more efficient training environment. The Chairperson of the NCA will hold general control over its operations, including budget allocations, training plans, and faculty engagements.

The ministry further highlighted that a Governing Council (GC) will decide on strategic, policy, and budget-related matters. This council will guide the NCA's operations and development trajectory in response to the evolving needs of the telecom sector.
