Air India Rescue Flight Successfully Departs from Russia to San Francisco
An Air India relief flight departed from Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Airport to San Francisco, carrying passengers and crew of a diverted Delhi-San Francisco flight. The diversion followed a detected issue in the cargo hold. The airline arranged a team with essentials, and mobilized extra support in San Francisco for the passengers.

An Air India relief aircraft has successfully departed from Russia's Krasnoyarsk Airport, heading for San Francisco, the airline announced. The flight, AI 1179, left Krasnoyarsk at 0002 hours local time (20 July) with all passengers and crew members of the diverted AI183 flight from Delhi.
The Delhi-San Francisco flight, carrying 225 passengers and 19 crew members, was diverted to Krasnoyarsk due to a potential issue in the cargo hold area of the Boeing 777 aircraft. The relief flight, which left from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, also carried essential supplies, including sufficient food for all passengers.
Upon arrival in San Francisco, Air India has mobilized additional on-ground support to facilitate clearance formalities, medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections. The Indian Embassy in Moscow thanked the Russian authorities for their assistance and coordination throughout the emergency. An Embassy team remains on the ground in Krasnoyarsk to continue assisting the passengers.
