GeM Expands LMS to 12 Official Indian Languages

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has broadened its accessibility by rolling out its Learning Management System (LMS) in six additional official languages, bringing the total to twelve. This initiative aims to cater to the diverse linguistic needs of its users, according to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The enhanced e-Learning Training Courses are now accessible in Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, providing users with an improved interface, dedicated libraries, and a progress-tracking dashboard.

The LMS features a comprehensive Four-level Buyer Certification program designed to empower users through structured learning and certification, maximizing efficiency by allowing Buyers and Sellers to navigate their educational paths based on topics or certification levels.

GeM CEO Prashant Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of providing proper learning channels to stakeholders for easier navigation of the platform. He stated, 'With this ideology, the interactive & multilingual LMS has been rolled out in 12 official languages, ensuring better comprehension of intricate public procurement processes.' The platform has seen a 32-fold increase in user registrations, with over 4,000 users and more than 600 Buyer certificates issued in just four months.

Aligning with international learning and development standards, the LMS caters to the diverse language demographics of all States and Union Territories. The newly designed training courses address specific needs and skill levels of Government Buyers, Sellers/Service Providers, allowing them to explore the GeM ecosystem at their convenience.

GeM's LMS sets a new standard for Government learning platforms by offering interactive, multilingual courses that ensure users, regardless of their language proficiency, can acquire the necessary skills to effectively navigate the portal. The initiative fosters trust and encourages wider adoption among stakeholders. (ANI)
