A mother and her son were killed and six others injured when a vehicle skidded off the Mughal road and rolled into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Friday evening, officials said.

The Belora car, carrying eight passengers, was traveling from Surankote to Srinagar. At Pannar, the vehicle lost control and plummeted into a deep gorge, they confirmed.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of 34-year-old Ujla Begum and her nine-year-old son Anees. Six other passengers sustained injuries and have been hospitalized, officials reported.
