Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated India's first Gen AI Conclave in Kochi, highlighting Kerala's dedication to fostering AI-based investments and technological advancements. He emphasized the state's commitment to leveraging AI for sustainable development and preparedness for Industry 4.0. 'More AI-based investments are expected in the upcoming years,' said Vijayan.
Vijayan stressed the integration of AI into educational institutions, noting that AI is part of the school curriculum from class 7 and that all teachers will receive AI training. This, he said, reflects the state's commitment to preparing the next generation of students for the future.
He outlined the government's focus on embedding AI in sectors like education, healthcare, tourism, and IT to enhance quality growth and improve the quality of life for citizens. AI-powered tools have significantly increased engagement in the tourism sector and are also used in the motor vehicle department for traffic management.
Vijayan highlighted AI's critical role in the health sector, especially in managing diseases like COVID-19 and NIPAH. 'AI-based solutions can effectively monitor patients and diseases to provide continued treatment,' he added.
The CM expressed hope that the conclave, co-hosted by the Government of Kerala and IBM, would attract more investments, positioning Kerala as a pioneer in Generative AI. The event will feature discussions on the impact, challenges, and opportunities of Gen AI for economic and career growth in India.
