South Delhi witnessed significant traffic disruption on Wednesday when a Delhi Transport Corporation electric bus became stranded in a caved-in section of the road in Mehrauli.

According to police reports, ongoing work at the site caused the cave-in. Approximately four to five calls reported traffic congestion in the area.

In an advisory posted on X, the police confirmed, ''Traffic is affected on MB Road in the carriageway from Khanpur towards Mehrauli due to the breakdown of a bus near Saket metro station. Kindly plan your journey accordingly.''

The bus driver, Bhupender Kumar, mentioned that the incident occurred around 7 am when the road unexpectedly caved in after they had dropped off passengers at the metro station. The bus was traveling at a minimal speed at the time.

Route number 419 was en route from Kashmere Gate to Lado Sarai when the incident took place. The Delhi Traffic Police later issued a statement advising that heavy vehicles are temporarily restricted from using Mandi Road due to ongoing drainage work requested by the public works department.

Buses and heavy vehicles are being redirected from Mandi Road towards Bandh Road and Sant Shr Nagpal Marg to reach MG Road and other parts of south Delhi.
