Radisson Hotel Group is delighted to announce the addition of seven new hotels, adding over 1,200 rooms to its African portfolio and marking its debut in Tanzania within the first half of 2024. These additions bring the Group’s footprint in Africa to nearly 100 hotels in operation and development, aligning with its goal of reaching 150 hotels within the next five years.

Tanzania: A Key Market in Expansion Strategy

Tanzania has been identified as a key market in Radisson's proactive expansion strategy, with the Group making its debut in the country through two hotel signings:

  1. Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments, Dar es Salaam: This 138-room hotel, featuring 94 guestrooms and 44 three-bedroom apartments, is set to open in 2025 as part of a mixed-use development in Dar es Salaam's CBD. The hotel will offer diverse dining facilities, a gym, spa, and multiple meeting rooms.

  2. Radisson Hotel Mwanza: This 196-room hotel will also open in 2025, becoming the only branded hotel in Mwanza. It will feature extensive dining options, wellness facilities, and event spaces, making it a prime location for corporate meetings and tours to the Serengeti National Park.

Strengthening Presence in Nigeria and Morocco

In Nigeria, Radisson continues to lead with a portfolio of 13 hotels in operation and development, including five new hotels signed in 2023. The recent signing of the Radisson RED Hotel Abuja enhances the Group’s presence in the city, now totaling four hotels under development.

In Morocco, Radisson's presence has grown from one hotel in 2020 to over nine hotels in operation and four in development. The new dual-branded hotels in Casablanca Finance City, including the Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments and Radisson RED Hotel, will open in late 2027, featuring a total of 381 rooms and extensive amenities.

Expansion in Tunisia and Ethiopia

  • Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Center, Tunis: This 305-room hotel will debut the Radisson Blu brand in Tunis, featuring a large convention center and multiple dining options.

  • Park Inn by Radisson Addis Ababa: Scheduled to open in 2025, this 120-room hotel will introduce the Park Inn by Radisson brand to Ethiopia, offering diverse dining options, meeting spaces, and wellness facilities.

Strategic Growth and Future Plans

Ramsay Rankoussi, Vice President, Development, Africa and Turkey at Radisson Hotel Group, highlighted the strategic growth: "The seven new hotels align with our expansion strategy, demonstrating significant growth in key African markets such as Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Ethiopia as well as our highly anticipated debut in Tanzania. These hotels also highlight our conversion strategy and our commitment to diversifying our portfolio by introducing new brands and cementing our presence in these important markets."

Since 2022, Radisson has opened 14 hotels, including the debut of the Radisson brand in Morocco and Tunisia, and the first safari hotel in Africa. The Group plans to continue this momentum, aiming to reach 25 hotels in both Morocco and South Africa by 2030, thereby doubling its portfolio in these countries.

“With a strong first half of the year, we plan to continue the momentum in the second half by focusing on expanding our presence in key markets. We thank each of our partners for their valued trust in us and our brands,” concluded Rankoussi.
