Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday for implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST), highlighting its effectiveness in reducing household item prices. Shah emphasized that the NDA government remains committed to introducing additional reforms aimed at enhancing the lives of citizens.

According to data from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), several household items such as flour, cosmetics, televisions, and refrigerators have become more affordable post-GST implementation.

'Standing true to the principles of a people's government, PM Shri @narendramodi ji introduced GST to offer relief to the citizens,' Shah wrote on X. 'Today, GST has not only simplified a multi-layered tax system but also significantly reduced household item prices. We are resolved to bring in more reforms to improve citizens' lives.'

Introduced on July 1, 2017, GST subsumed 17 local taxes and fees. Over the past nearly seven years, the tax on numerous products and services commonly used by the public has been lowered, according to reports.
